Are you planning to, or already, use email to market your business or communicate with your customers?  Email marketing is the most economical way of getting your message to your customers.  However, it can be fraught with problems and can even result in more harm than good if not carried out well. You may have started to send bulk emails already, but are you getting good results and could you do better?

This practical, one day workshop will take you through the email marketing process increasing your success rate, leading to better customer communication higher retention rates and more profitable business.

Note that this is not another workshop for the technologically inclined or initiated, this is about business, YOUR business and how to get the best return on your investment of resources.  Delivered in a straightforward way, using non-technical language, full of insights and real-world observations, practical techniques and actionable strategies.

These sessions aim to enlighten and empower the delegate to get the best from an existing or planned website in a straightforward non-technical way.  Covering a range of techniques this session provides an overview of both strategic planning and implementation.  Following this workshop the delegates will be equipped to select and position keywords that will benefit their business and be able to produce or improve their website’s content to improve search engine results and their users’ (customers’) experience.

  • What is email marketing? Understanding what you are trying to achieve

  • Realistic expectations for email as an effective communication channel with customers

  • Competitor research – are your competitors using email effectively, tips and tricks to find out

  • Understanding User behaviour, how do your customers view your email marketing

  • What do customers want to know – concise communication for optimum results

  • Collecting customers’ details and building a database

  • Keywords in emails – identifying, prioritising and  positioning

  • Using Microtext and Nanotext for eye-catching subject lines and avoiding false promises

  • Validity in the eyes of the recipient - What can you do to maximise your emails being opened

  • Structured writing – does your content make the impact you want

  • Readability – are you communicating effectively? How easy is your text to understand,

  •  When to send emails, identifying delivery schedules for best return

  • Legal considerations for email marketing campaigns

  • Spam Filters, getting past the gatekeeper

  • Choosing Software packages for email marketing campaigns

  • Understanding Feedback data, Analysis and taking action

Prerequisites – what skills or experience should you already possess

It is not assumed that the delegates have any prior knowledge of website development or internet marketing, but will use the internet and email on a regular basis, and probably be involved in working with the company's or possibly clients’ email marketing campaigns now or in the future. 

Delegates will benefit from having attended an introductory or overview course: ‘Internet Marketing How to get a website that works for your business’, or ‘Planning for the development of your new business website’.  However this is not essential.

Format – what type of course?

This course is delivered as a full day workshop (usually 9.30am to 4.30pm including breaks). There will be lots of opportunities to discuss, question and share experiences as well as some practical activities.

Location – where is the course held?

These sessions are delivered on a regular basis at our premises to small groups, (we limit the courses to 6 delegates at our premises so you have the advantage of learning in a small group), or they can be presented at any suitable venue convenient to you if you require a private session for your business or organisation.

Training providers and Training departments

This course can also be delivered as a a private workshop for your business or organisation, or as a seminar or series of seminars to larger groups and is ideal for business clubs, membership organisations and professional bodies providing CPD.
