Current Research Projects
Ongoing research is carried out on a number
of topics, currently:
What do you hate about websites
We've been asking internet users
"what do they hate about websites" for nearly 10 years now.
Amazingly, the results have hardly changed. Come to one of our
seminars to find out if what you hate is the same as others
Usage of home pages - commercial or
wasted
So much space wasted on so many
home pages. The home page of a website has so many jobs to
do - depending on the mental model you have of your website:
receptionist, front cover, entrance hall, table of contents,
brochure, and so on. Hardly a place for waste, although
the balance between effective visual communication and the
users' experience, must be balanced with the multiple roles.
So why do we see filler text, marketing-speak that no-one reads,
stock photos that no-one looks at - and great columns of unused
space?
Motivation v Frustration - website user
experience
We've been interested in the
effect of multiple barriers creating frustration in the user for
a while now. To build on our existing research, we are
hoping to establish an independent research project to collect
data on this subject soon. |
